Do you believe in spells? I’m not referring to the Sabrina the Teenage Witch kind of magic, but rather spells that might be more common than you think. Consider the alphabet song “A, B, C, D, E, F, G” – now replace that with someone singing the Happy Birthday song to you:
Happy Birthday to You Happy Birthday to You Happy Birthday Dear [name] Happy Birthday to You.
Technically, this could be seen as an ageing spell, signalling to your mind that you’re a year older each time it’s sung. Think about it. Every year on your birthday, you’re serenaded by strangers, family, and friends, even sometimes in the supermarket when swiping your loyalty card. Universally known for birthdays, the Happy Birthday song symbolises the recipient turning a year older, ageing before their very eyes…
Now, consider how we speak to our children. We often address them as if they’re small and not very bright. Imagine, your child might be a toddler who recently put a shoe in their mouth, and you just rolled your eyes and continued with your day. Now imagine if someone spoke to you, a fully grown adult, in the way you speak to a child. It sounds silly, doesn’t it? You would probably be offended.
If you treat someone as if they’re unintelligent or not very bright from a young age, you might be setting them up for failure. Language, or words, is powerful. There is magic in words. There is power in words. Words can change your life, for better, for worse, or simply alter the outcome of a situation.
The fact that we live in a world with so many different cultures and beliefs can be quite hectic. If we all understood each other, we’d live a far more peaceful life. But instead, we speak different languages, with different interpretations of what is said about us and others. Cultural differences based on race, religion, and region can significantly impact our verbal and non-verbal actions, affecting how others perceive us.
At the end of the day, it’s all spells in one form or another. You are told to hate or dislike someone. You are told you are getting older. You are told what you can or cannot achieve, all through the medium of spoken words.
What we are taught as children influences our beliefs as adults. If you’re taught segregation or discrimination, you might carry those beliefs into adulthood. Conversely, if you’re taught to be strong, motivated, and to believe in miracles, you’re likely to carry that into your adult life too.
Spells of all kinds arise through the spoken word, both good and bad. What you speak into the universe is powerful, and the universe amplifies it in your personal life.
So, be careful what you say to yourself or others. Words have more meaning than you might realise.
