Legkaart’s “Nuwe Reise”: The Perfect Soundtrack for Your Next Adventure

It’s a new year, and that means new music from your favourite artists! And in 2023, popular duo Legkaart is kicking things off with a bang, releasing a brand-new single that’s sure to get you pumped up for all the adventures the year has in store.

Titled “Nuwe Reise,” this upbeat pop-rock track is written by Legkaart’s frontman, Anrich Gericke, and was inspired by memories of summer holidays with friends when he was young. “There was an old car that we often went on trips with after we learned to drive and some of the best times of our lives happened within the four doors of that car,” he shares.

Recorded, mixed, and produced by Johnny De Ridder (Die Heuwels Fantasties and Fokofpolisiekar) and Loki Rothman, “Nuwe Reise” has an energetic vibe that will get fans excited about the new year. And with its universal message of friendship and togetherness, the song is sure to appeal to a broad audience. In fact, Legkaart believes that “Nuwe Reise” will soon be a road-trip favourite.

The music video, filmed on location at Gordon’s Bay, Stellenbosch, and Durbanville by Gerduan Kemp from Gerduan Kemp Photo & Film, captures the energy of the song with performance shots and fireworks. The concept for the video was a summer holiday along the coast in an old kombi.

“Nuwe Reise” follows in the footsteps of Legkaart’s previous successful radio hits “Terug in Tyd,” “Wentelbaan,” and “Ek Is Daar,” which have racked up over 100,000 views on YouTube. Formed in 2020, Legkaart consists of Anrich Gericke and Werner van der Merwe, both hailing from Durbanville in the Western Cape. The duo met when they were members of their dorm’s serenade group, Hippokrates. They decided to join forces after things with their previous bands did not work out as planned.
