Let me introduce you to Hartklop, the dynamic duo that’s literally causing hearts to skip a beat in the music world. This compelling combo, famously known for their unique blend of sound and emotion-imbued lyrics, has dropped a brand-new single that’s causing quite a stir.
The new rock ballad, “PROBEER”, was carefully crafted in collaboration with Zulekha Botha. It’s not just a song; it’s a testament of hope, resilience, and inspiration that’s come to life in the form of rhythm and verse.
The story woven into “PROBEER” explores the trials and tribulations of three friends. “We want listeners to connect their own narratives to the song, irrespective of where they are in life’s journey,” they emphasise, and believe me, this song knows just the chords to strike.
This emotive track sprung into existence in the most unanticipated way. As they laboured over another piece, Cornel strummed a tune on his guitar that sparked Zanneli’s creativity, leading to the lyrics of “PROBEER”. Zulekha, the group’s manager and Zanneli’s best friend, also had her part to play, contributing valuable input.

While the trio had been through divorce, the song felt like an echo of their individual stories and hardships. It was a mere 42 minutes until the song was written, a deeply emotive process that birthed a unique piece. A shared sentiment prevails among the group, a belief that their audience will resonate with the song’s message, eagerly waiting to share it with their adoring fans.
Don’t forget the music video, a cinematic masterpiece now available for all eyes to feast upon. Shot in the East Rand by Charles Ackerman, the video shows both members in separate locations, their paths intertwining to find each other again. Despite the time constraints on the day of filming, the outcome was far beyond satisfactory.
What sets this video apart is the wintry aura it carries, serving as a beacon of light in the coldest and most challenging times. The team is ecstatic about the final product, affirming that the best art pieces are often born in a flurry of creativity and limited time.
Next up, “Briewe”, their upcoming single, is already in the pipeline. When they’re not wearing their superstar capes, they’re diligently working on seven more songs. The duo takes time to connect with their fans on social media by recording covers of popular songs.
Their journey has been adorned with the performances alongside renowned artists like Bernice West, Spoegwolf, Juan Boucher, and Snotkop. And yet, their hearts still flutter at the dream of collaborating with Bouwer Bosch and Die Heuwels Fantasties.
But who are the faces behind Hartklop? The passionate 33-year-old Cornel Viljoen hails from Boksburg in the East Rand and has a 16-year-long history in the music industry. Zanneli Casey, the other half of the duo, is a 36-year-old singer-songwriter with a music career spanning 23 years. They found each other through their shared dedication, passion, and dreams, forming Hartklop in July 2022.
“With our music, we aim to disseminate hope and, on occasion, a touch of humour. Life is difficult enough, and everyone is dealing with their own battles. Our unique sound conveys this message in a remarkable way, making it relatable,” they say.
That’s the story of Hartklop. They’re not just a rock band, but a symbol of hope, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of music that resonates in every heart.
