Enthralling, magical, and wonderfully real, a unique spectacle is set to alight the stage of the prestigious Pieter Toerien Theatre at Montecasino. From the 19th of May to the 11th of June, prepare to be whisked away on a passionate journey of love, betrayal, revenge, and desire. The theatrical marvel of the year, FIREFLY, is coming, and it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
In the remote and quaint village of Bucket’s End, high in the mountains and upstream from the vanishing river, an extraordinary tale unfolds. Ferine and Ferase, portrayed by the legendary duo Sylvaine Strike and Andrew Buckland, take centre stage, captivating audiences with their masterful storytelling. Guided by the flicker of fireflies and the radiance of full moons, their love story is a powerful spectacle, one that is both heart-stirring and hauntingly beautiful.
Strike and Buckland, our exceptional clowning duo, are renowned for their theatrical prowess. With a piano accompaniment from Tony Bentel, directed by the visionary Toni Morkel, they bring to life an unforgettable tale of ill-fated lovers. Their narrative sparks into life under the glow of the moon, with the fireflies as their audience, creating a tableau of magic and mastery that will leave you enchanted.
FIREFLY, however, is more than just a tale of forbidden love. It is an exploration into the underbelly of wonder, a passionate portrayal of all its awful splendour. With its unconventional approach, it takes you on a journey into the surreal, captivating your senses and stirring your heart.

Performances are scheduled from Wednesday to Friday at 8 pm, with additional shows on Saturday at 3 pm and 8 pm, and a Sunday matinee at 2 pm. Tickets range from R150 to R270 and can be bought from WEBTICKETS.
