Day One: Comic Con Africa 2024 Photos

Take a look at Day One photos of Comic Con Africa 2024! Even though it was a Thursday, the crowd showed up in full force. The energy was electric, with so many attendees embracing the excitement and fun. Everyone was dressed to impress in their favourite cosplay outfits, showcasing incredible creativity. From casual cosplayers to the more seasoned pros, the atmosphere was buzzing. The passion for their characters was truly on display, and it was impossible not to get caught up in the joy of it all. Comic Con is a place where people from all walks of life come together to share their love of all things geeky, and it didn’t disappoint!

Toys R Us came through with a massive stand that had literally everything you could think of, from action figures to board games and even more obscure collectibles. You name it, they had it. Their display was huge, colourful, and hard to miss. Walking through their stand felt like stepping into a wonderland of nostalgia and new finds alike. They made sure no stone was left unturned when it came to providing something for every type of fan. Check out the photos below to see just a taste of the fun they brought to the event.

The first cosplay competition of the weekend kicked off, and it was as lively as you’d expect. The costumes were jaw-dropping, and the crowd cheered on the participants with infectious enthusiasm. But, in typical Comic Con fashion, the layout for photos wasn’t exactly ideal. As with previous years, half the competition had a less-than-appealing background that just didn’t work for photos. Unless a massive green screensaver with lots of wordssssss is your thing, i mean, who am i to judge (Judging furiously). Like last year’s event, who thought putting the judges directly behind the cosplayers was a good idea? Do they need to judge them from… behind? Today was tricky trying to snap pictures that captured the essence of the outfits with such a distracting backdrop. So, unfortunately, a lot of my photos from the competition didn’t make the cut. Hopefully, the next few days will be a bit better in that department. Fingers crossed! However, i will most likely come back with more photos of judges staring from the background behind them, or another green screen of words. LOL.

One of my absolute favourite spots to spend time at was Symbiote’s stand. They go all out every year, but this time they really pulled out all the stops. Their collectibles are nothing short of breathtaking. Every item is a work of art, and I could easily spend hours just admiring the fine details. The craftsmanship is astounding, and it’s hard not to get completely absorbed in every piece on display. If you’re into finely crafted figures and detailed collectibles, this was definitely the place to be.

Of course, there were tons of other things happening as well. From gaming booths that had all the latest consoles set up to let you test out the newest releases, to talks and panels that gave insight into everything from game design to comic book writing. It was a whirlwind of activities, and I’m definitely going to sneak in more photos of everything else over the next few days. It’s impossible to catch it all in just one day, but that’s part of the magic of Comic Con. There’s always something more to experience, something you might have missed in all the excitement.
